The villagers of Manton gathered together on the evening of Sunday July 15th for the annual Church Garden Party - and to celebrate the end of the football!!
The Garden Party took place in the beautiful gardens of Robin and Kate Brookes at Manton House.
This was an opportunity to thank all those who help to support the church through cleaning, arranging flowers, playing the organ, locking and unlocking the door and tending the garden. We are all extremely grateful to everyone for their input.
Everyone had a very good time - and raised £130 for Church Funds.
An Easter Workshop took place in Manton Church on 15th April. Adults and children gathered together to decorate the church with flowers and crafts. Check out the gallery for more photos.
Lent Lunches in Manton took place for 6 Tuesdays from 7th March - 11th April 2017. All money raised was for 'Save the Children, Syria'. Everyone enjoyed home made soup, bread, fruit and coffee ... and lots of friendly chat!!
Manton enjoyed a Salsa Night on 12th November 2016. We raised £700 for the Church Roof Fund following the lead theft in August. Check out the gallery for more photos.
A Farewell Tea was organised by the PCC for Sheila Fowler of Manton who is leaving the village to live nearer to her family in West Bridgford, Nottingham. Sheila has organised the distribution of the Parish Magazines until a couple of months ago, hosted many Coffee Mornings, supported all village events with enthusiasm, always hosted the post Carol Singing Christmas Party and served on both the PCC and the Village Hall Committee over the years. A true village legend. She will be missed by us all!
The Bans were read for the final time on Sunday, 21 August 2016.
The marriage of Victoria Fay Cowan to Captain Alexander Robert Philip Tait will take place on Saturday, 10th September in Manton.
On 4th June 2016 the Leicester Cathedral Walking Group visited Manton Church. After a brief talk and tour of the church by Anne Cowan, Churchwarden, the group including walkers from Manton, headed across the fields for a 3 mile walk. The route took us through Martinsthorpe and Gunthorpe before returning for refreshments at the Horse and Jockey pub in Manton. A jolly time was had by all!
